Ideally, immediately after the actions or the work that you wish to recognize have been carried out, or at the time in which you can provide us with a short description. This will allow you enough time and avoid having to rush to write up your report in the weeks prior to the gala. 

What are we looking for?

When the gala wishes to honour a police officer, we look for all aspects of police work: acts of bravery, community involvement, a remarkable career, undercover work, dismantling of crime rings, joint investigations, fighting cybercrime, organized crime, rescues, investigations, evidence provision, obtaining confessions, etc. Heroes of the shadow reflect professionalism, dedication, involvement, determination, initiative, a sense of accomplishment — generally all done in the shadows.

The deadline for submitting nominations

The deadline for sending in a nomination is about a month before the date of the gala (October). All submissions sent to us will be presented to our board of governance, whose members will select the final recipients. Each year, we aim for a maximum of approximately 10 events involving several officers, and about 30 individual candidates.

Tell us about your heroes in the shadow so that we may, in turn, present them to the public for recognition.

Nomination form 

Please write a comprehensive summary and reasons why you believe your nominated candidate should receive a Quebec Police Award. Please keep your summary to about 500 words, to be submitted on a separate sheet of paper, to be added to the nomination form. Please include as many details as possible, including references, dates, and other pertinent information. Please be as precise as possible.

Please include, if possible, newspaper clippings, police reports, videos and file numbers. We may ask that you mail these to us for further consideration.
